District 8 of the American Rabbit Breeders Association represents Indiana, Kentucky, Manitoba, Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. Our district has been the host of many ARBA National Conventions including the largest one to date. We were proud to host the 2011 ARBA National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana! The ARBA member clubs are actively hosting shows allowing our rabbit enthusiasts the opportunity to show almost every Fall and Spring weekend. “What are you doing this weekend? I’m going to a rabbit show!” is a common saying heard throughout the district. We also take pride in our youth because after all, we are the birth place of 4-H - the start of most family rabbit hobbies.

So please, kick back your feet and take the time to look over our recently redeveloped website. Upon looking around, you can locate the following for each state/province throughout our district; representatives, judges, registrars and ARBA sanctioned show listing. Additional information will be posted as it’s completed. This is not a finish product so please check back often!

Enjoy!!

  • NEW ARBA CAGES: The ARBA Board has just voted to purchase 350 "3 hole" coops for Convention use. This will be 1,050 holes. At last year's Convention the Board received many complaints on the condition of some of the cooping, particularly for the Dwarf-size breeds. The Board listened, and the purchase will be made. The coops should arrive in time for the Indy Convention. Thanks, Terry.

  • CORRECTIONS TO STANDARD: The ARBA Board has decided on the following correction to the new 2011-2015 Standard of Perfection. On page 34 under Meat Pens, the following sentence should be removed. "Pointed animals must all have the same point color." This information should shortly be up on the ARBA website and in a future issue of DOMESTIC RABBITS. Please let me know should you have any questions.

  • CORRECTIONS TO STANDARD: The ARBA Board has just passed 3 corrections to the new 2011-2015 Standard of Perfection. These corrections affect Giant Chinchillas, New Zealands, and Amber Rex. The upcoming issue of DOMESTIC RABBITS will describe these corrections in detail. The ARBA website should have these changes listed in the near future as well. Also, a sheet should accompany the review test results letter to judges.
