Fellow members of District 9,
Welcome to our website! Encompassing a large portion
of the east coast, District 9 contains the states of
Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West
Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Washington D.C., and multiple foreign countries. We
boast a very diverse, active, and talented group of
ARBA members – both open and youth!
Our web site contains a large amount of information
for those who reside in District 9. Included are a
listing of our state representatives along with
their biographies and contact information,
sanctioned shows in our district, licensed
registrars and judges in district 9, show results,
educational opportunities, pictures from events, and
much more. This is all provided to us by our very
talented Tracy Lukeman from Virginia who has served
as the webmaster for this web site for many years.
My name is Jay Hreiz and I am very pleased to serve
as your current District 9 Director. I have been a
member of the ARBA since 1995 and have lived in New
Jersey, Pennsylvania, and my current residence of
Charlotte, North Carolina. I’ve enjoyed being a
licensed judge #789 since 2002 and have had the
opportunity to judge in many US states as well as
halfway across the world in Japan. I decided early
as a youth that I truly enjoyed English Lops as my
primary breed. Very soon I will be adding Velveteen
Lops to that list.
Raising rabbits introduced me to veterinary medicine
and solidified my professional goals. I’m a 2004
graduate of Penn State (go Nittany Lions) and a 2008
graduate from the University of Pennsylvania’s
School of Veterinary Medicine. I currently work as
an associate veterinarian near my home in Charlotte
seeing companion animals (dogs and cats) along with
exotics (rabbits, cavies, small mammals, reptiles,
and birds). I am also the current chairman of the
ARBA Rabbit & Cavy Health Committee. In my spare
time I enjoy running, playing video games,
traveling, and meeting up with friends in the city.
As your director I am here to serve as your active
voice on the ARBA Board. Please do not hesitate to
contact me with any questions or concerns you have
regarding our district or the ARBA in general. As
always, please stop by and say hello at a show. I
look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Jay E. Hreiz, VMD
