Hi! My name is Denise Ancharski-Stutler and I am one of the PA State representatives for ARBA. I live in Levittown, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia) and maintain a small rabbitry (Rascally Rabbits) with my husband Andy and my parents Dan and Mary Ann Ancharski. I have owned rabbits since I was in kindergarten and began breeding and showing rabbits in 1992 and I am currently raising Mini Lops and Silver Martens. I have enjoyed spending time with all the rabbit/cavy friends I have made throughout my rabbit showing adventures. During the period of 1992 to the present, I was a 4-H member for 7 years, a member of American Rabbit Breeders Association, Eastern Mini Lop Club, Mini Lop Rabbit Club of America, and Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeders Association (PaSRBA). In addition to Mini Lops and Silver Martens, I have also raised and shown American Fuzzy Lops, Dutch, and Lionheads. I was the 1995 Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeders Association Rabbit Queen. I am currently the Director-At-Large for PaSRBA and serve as the Specialty Show Coordinator for PaSRBA’s Annual Convention. I am also the Vice-President for the Bucks County Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association ARBA Club. I am the Open District 9 Director for the Mini Lop Rabbit Club of America. I was recently appointed as the Chair of the ARBA Research and Development committee and a member of the ARBA Rabbit and Cavy Health Committee. Finally, I am also a current leader of Little Rascals 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Club in Middle Bucks County, PA and Fuzzy Buddies 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Club in Lower Bucks County, PA.

I attended Delaware Valley College where I was a member of Delta Tau Alpha (an agricultural honor society). During these four years (with the continued help and support of my parents), I was able to continue breeding and showing rabbits. I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Small Animal Science. I graduated in 2008 from Thomas Jefferson University with a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and Immunology. I am currently employed as the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Coordinator at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Previously, I was employed as a Research Assistant at Thomas Jefferson University’s Division of Infectious Diseases Center for Bioterrorism and Biodefense Research focusing on vaccine development against Botulinum intoxication. The group I worked with has published numerous research articles in field of Botulinum intoxication. I am a member of both the national and local chapter of Association for Women in Science and Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research.

My other non-rabbit related hobbies include spending time with our Weimaraner, Chloe and taking her to the dog parks, NASCAR (especially Dale Earnhardt Junior), photography, reading, and going to the beach. I have an older brother (not involved with rabbits) two nieces, and two nephews.
Finally, I encourage each ARBA member to send your thoughts, suggestions, and criticisms to myself or any member of the ARBA executive team. We cannot make improvements to the organization if we do not know what the membership wants and needs are.

Thank you for your support and best of luck in the nest boxes and on the show tables.
