My name is Paul Dvorak Sr. I have accepted the appointment and am happy to serve as the ARBA North Carolina State Representative for 2010. Our family (including my wife Debra, my son Paul JR, PJ, and my daughter Anne) was introduced to the rabbit hobby back in 1996 when we lived in Illinois. It all started when I volunteered to bring back several Mini Rex from Freda Kraus for our neighbor during a family vacation in DC. Of course we decided to pickup several Mini Rex for our selves as well, and since then we were hooked! My son and I raise show quality Mini Rex and Mini Satins, but have also raised many other breeds, too numerous to mention. I have been an active member and officer of several local clubs including charter member of the Sandhills Rabbit Fanciers Rabbit Club, which is now in it’s 10th year, During the past 13 years I have also volunteered as show secretary and superintendent of many shows, including our State Convention Shows. Since we moved to Sanford, North Carolina in 1998, I have also been very active in our State Association (NCRBA). I have held office of the Vice President position for 4 years and am currently serving as the State Association Secretary and Newsletter Editor positions which I have held for several years. Since we joined the NCRBA in the late ‘90s, I am very proud of the improvements our association has made over these past years, including the growth of membership, the growth of our NCRBA State Convention and especially the involvement of your youth. I am originally from Minnesota where I was born and raised on a small dairy farm. I received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1980 and have been employed as an engineer with Caterpillar Inc since 1983. I was privileged to develop the first line of Skidsteer Loaders in the late ‘90s and over the past 7 years I have been the lead engineer on hydrostatic transmissions, corporate wide. Besides our rabbit hobby, my son and I are also building a street rod pickup truck (1948 International) with a modern chassis and powertrain. Unfortunately this project is taking a long time to finish. I am also active in our local street rod association club in which I serve as secretary. |
