Ruth-Ann has been raising rabbits since she was 9 years old as a 4-Her. As a very active youth member she promoted all aspects of rabbits with the Pa State Rabbit Breeders Association, serving on the board of various clubs, being secretary for both local youth shows and the PaSRBA convention and being the PA State Rabbit Queen and Commodity Representative in 1995. While being very active as a youth member, Ruth-Ann was surrounded by open members who were nurtured and encouraged her love for rabbits. In the fall of 1997 Ruth-Ann attended Delaware Valley College where she majored in Small Animal Science. She graduated Cum Laud with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science in 2001. While in college, Ruth-Ann was able to remain very active in rabbits and she attained her Rabbit Registrars license.

In July of 1999 the most important event occurred in Ruth-Ann’s life when she was wed to Brian Bell and R’n’B Rabbitry came into existence. Brian played an important role in encouraging Ruth-Ann to continue raising rabbits and to follow her dreams. After graduation, Ruth-Ann entered the field of biomedical sciences, but her career took a pause when Brian and she started a family. June 2002 brought forth the birth of their first son, Jacob. Exactly one year after Jacob was born, Ruth-Ann received her ARBA judge’s license. After obtaining her judges license, Ruth-Ann attained her Veterinarian Technician Certification. Since then four other boys, Caleb, Isaac, Eli, and Levi joined the rabbitry.

Ruth-Ann has not been able to work much outside the home with the notable exception of her rabbit judging as she travels quite often to judge. She is avidly involved with assisting her husband, Brian, with the PaSRBA Convention. Ruth-Ann serves on the ARBA Judges’ Continuing Education Committee. She has served as the president of the American Tan Rabbit Specialty Club. Ruth-Ann and her family currently have Florida Whites, Tans and Californians in their barn.

Outside of the rabbit world, Ruth-Ann also has her Commercial Glider and Private Airplane Pilot’s License. She is pursuing her Glider Instructor’s rating and Airplane Instrument and Commercial ratings. Since her boy’s are old enough to be in the 4-H prep division, Ruth-Ann has been recruited to be a leader of one of the 4-H Prep clubs. She is also heavily involved with activities at church including choir, handbell choir, nursery and children’s church. The Bell family has also taken to raising Nigerian Dwarf goats which has caused a farm name change to Skyward Bound Farms.
