Oneda Lambert - onedalambert@gmail.com

Oneda first came on the "rabbit" scene in 1990, shortly after I married Bryan Lambert.  At this time, we joined the Portsmouth Rabbit Breeders Association.   There we learned the art of raising and showing rabbits to ARBA standards.  Thanks to the guidance of our club members and friends (some with us still, some gone but not forgotten), we learned how enjoyable life with rabbits could be.  It was through Harry Rice that I learned to appreciate the Dutch breed of rabbits.

Over the years, we (including the kids - Samantha, Joshua, and Kimberly) raised and showed a variety of breeds, primarily with Mini-Rex towards the ends of that era.  We took a break a few years ago, and was out of the rabbit scene due to some family medical issues.  However, in November of 2013, in the dead of winter, we got back in and got rabbits when we went to the Haubstadt, IN show.  Thanks to the generosity of several friends, we went after three rabbits, and came home with thirteen!

During the first chapter of our rabbit raising life, I also had the pleasure of being the National Mini-Rex Rabbit Club (NMRRC) District 8 representative.  The Mini-Rex was a rapidly growing breed and it was rising in its popularity.  Unfortunately, we had for several reasons decided to stick with one breed, and Mini-Rex was that choice.  Until then, we had raised various breeds of rabbits.  So, for a while, I had the pleasure of supporting the NMRRC in this capacity, in which I was able to speak and listen to various breeders about their "Adventures in Rabbit Showing", which of course means so much - whether it's breeding, raising, targeting desired traits, to showing, and luckily, sometimes winning.  Rabbits can be a life-changing event for the better, if you don't let the drama or the politics taint your love of the hobby.  So, I like to think that I was, and continue, to be a neutral voice for all in ensuring that I can understand and express concerns, provide an exciting venue of the activities that happen in our region, and to just promote the raising and breeding of these wonderful creatures.  Now, we raise Mini-Rex and Dutch, and look forward to seeing our rabbit friends as we are able.

During the week, like so many, I do work for a living.  I have been a Human Resources Specialist since 1987, working for various agencies.  I love the work, but look forward the calming yet competitive world of showing rabbits on the weekend.   I love being from Kentucky, and enjoy showing here and in the surrounding states.  Often, our travels take us even further.  I look forward to meeting all of you.  I have a warped sense of humor, and think all areas of life can be enjoyable.  Rabbit shows are no exception.  So, see you soon!
